A1 Movers practice: grammar, prepositions and story tasks
A1 Movers is the middle step, and it is where children stop matching single words and start handling sentences. They describe what people are doing, say where things are, compare two pictures and follow a short spoken story. The five topics below cover the language that decides how many shields a child collects.
What this paper asks of you
- Present continuous for describing a picture: the boy is riding his bike.
- Present simple for routines, with the third-person s that children keep dropping.
- Prepositions of place, including the harder ones: between, opposite, in front of, behind.
- Comparative adjectives for comparing two things: bigger, smaller, longer, better.
- Following a short spoken description and writing names, colours and numbers.
- Telling a simple story from a set of pictures, in order, in the present.
- Reading a short text and choosing the right word to complete a sentence.
- Spelling short, familiar words from memory rather than only copying them.
- A speaking test with real questions about the child's own life, answered in sentences.
