TOEIC Listening practice: all four parts, task by task
The TOEIC Listening test moves from single sentences about a photograph to full conversations and talks, and it never repeats anything. Most lost points come from two places: distractors built on similar-sounding words, and details such as prices, dates, floor numbers and job titles that go past faster than candidates can write them. These five pages drill both.
What this paper asks of you
- Hearing a whole idea, not single words: the statement with the most familiar vocabulary is often the wrong one.
- Reacting to a question before the response is read, so you are checking a prediction rather than starting cold.
- Holding three facts at once — who, what and when — across a conversation of a dozen turns.
- Catching workplace detail: extensions, invoice numbers, gate changes, delivery windows, department names.
- Reading the printed questions during the directions, so you already know what to listen for.
- Recognising paraphrase, because the correct option rarely repeats the words you heard.
- Working with printed graphics — schedules, floor plans, price lists — that the audio only half explains.
- Coping with a range of accents without letting an unfamiliar voice cost you the first two items of a set.
- Keeping your place on the answer sheet through a test that never pauses for you.
- Guessing fast and moving on, so one hard item never costs you the next one as well.
